The new park across from the Greenwood Library on Greenwood Avenue North between North 81st and 82nd streets is just rolling lawn right now, but it will open to the public in time for Friday night’s monthly Art Up Artwalk.

A group of artists will be there during the Artwalk for an “artists in the park” event. Artists are invited to bring their own supplies and create something on the spot, and musicians are asked to bring their instruments too. Seattle ReCreative also will host a kids art table.

The open lawn will be available to the community until park construction begins in spring 2018, which will add natural play elements, nature discovery trail, plaza with picnic tables, a loop path, and dog “comfort stations.” The park is expected to be complete by late summer 2018. Seattle Department of Transportation will build an elevated crosswalk across 81st between the park and library.

Tonight (Tuesday), The Friends of Library Park is hosting a meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the library to talk about ways to activate the space. And they’re hosting a picnic in the park starting at 4 p.m. Saturday.
